Hi Russ,
This is John and Christine again. Just a follow-up to our other inquiry. We had one more question about correcting the over-limed soil in our containerized tomato plants.
Can vinegar be used as we read on one garden forum?
We think they diluted 1 or 2 tablespoons of distilled vinegar per gallon of water. If so, is the ratio good enough and how often would you use the vingar solution?
Or would the other additives in our previous question be better?
Thank you again, Russ.

I have used a product, "calcitic plus dolomite lime" in my 15 gallon containers for growing tomatoes this year.
I have 20 containers and I was so diligent
in mixing the 5-1-1 soil ration(pine bark fines-peat moss-pearl lite).
I used a half a cup of the lime per 15 gallons of soil to raise the pH and to get the benefits of calcium and magnesium, but after almost 2 weeks the tomatoes plant leaves are now turning light green and the stems are getting spindley. After reading your article on correcting pH I am desperate to know what I should do to correct the situation before my plants die and all my hard work goes to waste. The aluminum sulfate sounds good but I'm concerned about the aluminum uptake being toxic in the tomatoes and about how much to use? Would sulfate of iron or sulfate of ammonia be good as well?
Your advise would be very appreciated.
Thank you.

One tip is to simply have a truck come in and change your entire lawn. But this is expensive, so if you keep your lawn smaller than 4 square feet it will then be cheap. Or build a new lawn in an aquarium!!!
