There is a different way to grow your own tomatoes. It is an usual method but can be described as the "high yield Japanese tomato ring growing technique." This is an option to consider because when you put effort into growing your own food, you want to get as much produce as possible from your crop. This is also a great alternative tomato growing technique because of the limited space that is typically available in backyard gardens. And in your attempt to make the venture worth your while, this unique approach may serve your desire to produce the high yield crop of your dreams.
This plan involves wire mesh fencing standing 4' to 6' tall, placed in a sunny location and forming a circle in the ground. That circle should be placed in such a way as to form a 5' to 6' diameter. Turn and work the soil within the circle down to about 8". Level the soil and place on top of it a layer of compost/mulch, soil and fertilizer. Another optional mix would be leaves, compost/mulch, dolomite lime and fertilizer. Repeat the layering process with your chosen mix a second time. The top of the final layer should be concave and sit just approximately 2" from the top of the fence. This is the main watering focal point once the roots of your plants have been established..
Plant your tomato plants evenly spaced in the freshly toiled soil sitting outside of the fence ring within 2" to 3" of the base. Cover with a light layer of fertilizer. There should be sufficient room for four tomatoes plants using this tomato growing technique. Keep these plants watered until the roots have been sufficiently established. Then maintain the irrigation of the plants by watering through the top of the cage. As the plants grow larger, using a soft cloth such as pantyhose, secure them to the wire fence.
Then watch as your tomatoes blossom and grow. Soon you will be enjoying the high yield of delicious tasty tomatoes using the unusual Japanese tomato growing ring technique.
